What niche do you fill in the Center for Leadership and Involvement?
T. Lael Simmons is a doctoral candidate in the School of Education and the Graduate Marketing Advisor for the Center for Leadership and Involvement. She has the privilege of supporting a dynamic team of students who are designing innovative marketing materials for CfLI and learning important professional development skills along the way.
Her academic interests include researching ways to support the academic achievement and wellbeing of multicultural students through multimedia stereotype threat interventions. She hails from Charlotte, North Carolina and attended Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Communications (M.S. in Broadcast Journalism) and the nation's first public liberal arts college for Black students - North Carolina Central University (B.A. in Psychology). A desire to learn from Professor Clifton Conrad, an expert on Minority Serving Institutions, is one of the major reasons she chose to pursue a PhD at UW-Madison.
She enjoys traveling, singing, and encouraging students to attain the unattainable.
