The Center for Campus History is partnering with the Office of Multicultural Arts Initiatives to bring Andrew Carnegie Medal winner, Windham-Campbell Prize recipient, and MacArthur Genius Hanif Abdurraqib to campus as a part of the 18th annual Line Breaks Festival.
An essayist, poet, cultural critic, and author of “A Little Devil in America: Notes in Praise of Black Performance”, Hanif will engage in a fireside chat on the intersections of race, culture, and performance. A follow-up Q&A/discussion with the audience will allow students and Madison community members to engage with an artist and scholar on the art of writing culturally relevant prose and the necessity of creating in our current moment. After the fireside chat, there will be a reception with food and refreshments.
The event is free and open to all. Registration opens Friday, March 21st.
