Description: Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) issues are inherently complex, shaping every aspect of human interaction and society as a whole. Traditional disciplinary boundaries can limit our ability to full understand how diverse identities, backgrounds, and experiences shape outcomes at individual, group, organizational and societal levels. By integrating perspectives from an array of disciplines, we can uncover deeper insights into the mechanisms that drive DEI across contexts.
This talk will explore interdisciplinary approaches to the study of DEI, focusing on how combining theories and methodologies from different fields can enrich our understanding of the complex dynamics at play. Drawing on 3-4 of my interdisciplinary projects, I will illuminate how this integrative knowledge can inform both DEI research and guide its practical implementation. Ideally, it will also inspire novel research questions, approaches, and collaborative efforts to empower diversity scholars to understand and address group-based inequalities and devise strategies for enacting meaningful social change.
