Dr. Allen, Dr. Wendland, and Dr. Abadie

Man-made climate change affects the environment in which we live and has a dramatic effect on our health. Inspired by the Wisconsin RISE initiative, this session will explore the possibilities and challenges of conducting research on climate change and health.  Dr. Allen will discuss the effects of heat waves on stress and cardiovascular risk among aging Black adults in the US. Dr. Wendland will address how floods intersect with women’s reproductive trajectories and health outcomes in Malawi. Dr. Abadie will examine the effects of Hurricanes on injection risk practices and treatment access of people who inject drugs in rural Puerto Rico.
