Emerging Leaders Retreat

Join the Jones Leadership Center in a weekend retreat centering around authentic leadership. Whether you are currently in a leadership position or just want to learn more about leadership, all are welcome at this unique retreat experience. Through this retreat you will be able to learn more about yourself and become more self-aware as a leader, connect with others who value leadership, and reflect on the true meaning of leadership. Applications close on March 6th.

JLC Workshop: How to Work in Diverse Teams

Join the Jones Leadership Center for a fun, interactive workshop focused around working in diverse teams. We will learn how to work with teams through a variety of challenges, learn and apply your personal work style, review methods of how to build an effective and engaged team, and understand the connection between team building and leadership. Engage in fulfilling conversations with other students interested in leadership and enjoy some free snacks. Participation also counts toward the Leadership Certificate and makes for a great resume builder!

Let’s Talk: Housing Justice with DaMontae January

This fall, the Willis L. Jones Leadership Center is excited to host speaker DaMontae January from Madison Community Cooperative and Casa del Rainbow in Madison. DaMontae is the Membership Coordinator for Madison Community Cooperative and has been in this position since 2020. Madison Community Cooperative is a non-profit housing cooperative that has over 200 members living in 11 different houses in downtown Madison. It’s mission includes being inclusive and accepting of all different groups and providing low-income residents with housing opportunities. Casa del Rainbow which strives to help young LGBTQ+ adults to be their authentic selves through community building and education. They offer young LGBTQ+ adults housing opportunities in Madison as well.

How to Manage Conflict

Join the Jones Leadership Center at Memorial Union on November 29th from 6:00p to 7:00pm to engage in interactive activities focusing on conflict. We will engage in activities that address a variety of conflict scenarios, discuss some of the pros and cons of conflict, discover personal conflict management styles, and apply positive conflict management strategies to real-life examples. 

How to Lead as an Ally

This program is FREE to all UW Students. It is an interactive seminar in which students learn about the importance of understanding the constructs and value of certain privileges, the characteristics of an ally, and the impact of certain privileges and how that impact defines us.
